Our Bengal boys, Rio and Junior are looking for a new home. Unfortunately, my cat allergies have gotten so severe that we cannot keep them any longer. Below is the posting that Michael wrote about the boys, as well as photos of them. Please contact us if you are interested in adopting these two, or know of anyone who may be. Thank you! ~Jaime (Jaime.Ueda@gmail.com)

About Rio
Rio is a majestic cat; an ex-breeder who found a home with us when we adopted Junior. When we picked up Junior, we mentioned that we’d like him to have a brother so he didn’t have to grow up alone. Soon after, we found ourselves driving home with two beautiful cats instead of one, and Junior and Rio embarked on their journey into our home together.

Rio loves people, is strikingly beautiful and very vocal. He has a definite personality unlike any other cat I’ve met. You can tell when he’s happy, frustrated or sad through the tone of his meow. He will always try to cuddle with you on the couch or welcome you at the door. He will tell you when he’s hungry, or ask for food in the kitchen even when he’s not.

Rio is unafraid of dogs (as can be seen in the photos), but takes time to get used to other cats. He is not aggressive toward other cats, but scared of those that he does not know. When we integrated our two households and he met Maia, it took 3 or 4 weeks for them to get used to each other. However, these two would become the best of friends and were often found hugging and cuddling in their beds (also seen in the photos). Rio loves with all of his being and when Maia passed away last year, he was heartbroken.

Rio’s best traits are his soft fur, eyes, and personality. His coat is very unique – a rich dark color with distinct spots and striking, bright eyes. He is noticeably muscular and athletic. But we love him most for always greeting us when we come home and for keeping us warm on the couch.

About Junior
Junior is younger than Rio by about 1 year. He is slightly slimmer than Rio and quite attached to his older brother, who is actually related to him by blood – they are cousins. Junior is more playful and mischievous, always picking on his older brother.

We often find Junior fascinated with boxes, toys and of course Rio. He’s fun to watch because he’s always up to something – whether he’s building a cardboard fort in the living room or stalking Rio from across the room – he’s always embracing the role of a playful little brother.

Junior is more cautious than Rio around new dogs and cats. He’s a little shyer and will run away from new dogs, which could cause them to chase him. However, when introduced to a new home, yard, or anything fun and interesting, Junior will jump in and have fun while Rio, the more cautious of the pair, watches from the sidelines. He is definitely an explorer, as long as he knows it’s safe.

Our favorite thing about Junior is how he says hello. When you walk up to him, he dives onto the floor and rubs his back on the carpet, urging you to rub his belly. He loves nothing more than a good belly rub or back rub – and he’ll give you some licks to thank you for it.

Why we must say goodbye
It’s been a long and exciting journey with these two wonderful boys. We are looking for a caring home for Junior and Rio because:

We have severe allergies, and after moving to California they have gotten worse. For medical reasons, particularly as we start a family, we must do what we can to make our environment healthier.
The demands of a working household have increased as we’ve gained more responsibility in our careers. While we spend time with Rio and Junior, we feel that a more balanced home would make them happier.

While this is a difficult decision for us, we move forward with their interests at heart. A healthy, balanced home with people who love them is all we wish for Rio and Junior, who will always be family to us. Because we think it’s important for them to be happy, we request that Rio and Junior remain together wherever their new home may be.

Thank you for reading this, and we hope Rio and Junior make you as happy as they have made us.
